In this interactive presentation, participants learned that diversity in the workplace goes beyond the "numbers game." We explored the different dimensions of diversity, learned about how it impacts our personal lives, and set the stage for a workplace where everyone feels included and that they belong.

BREAKOUT SESSION:  "Mental Health Awareness" - Claire Courtney


A presentation with slides, resource handouts and brief video clips based on Minnesota's Make it OK campaign. Learning Objectives:  1) Understand the stigma that commonly surrounds mental health issues 2) Learn basic information about mental health issues and how they may present in employment 3) Increase ability to respond to people who may talk about mental health issues 4) Know what resources exist for people who have mental health issues.

BREAKOUT SESSION:  "How Training Your Mind Can Turn the Volume Down on Stress" - Tiffany Kari


This class explored meditation as a tool to help manage stress. Participants learned about the evidence-informed benefits of meditation for the brain, body, and overall well-being. Participants had an opportunity to try a brief meditation practice and left with tips and resources to set up a home meditation practice.

BREAKOUT SESSION:  "Nuances of African American Culture" - Keith Turner and Sherry Sanchez Tibbets


This breakout session provided participants with a working knowledge of what defines African American culture, particularly in the Northland. An introductory level discussion, this workshop was designed to help participants understand cultural dynamics, social-economic issues, and community impact.
