Clare Balow, Career Counselor
Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training
On a beautiful summer day, fifteen youth and five staff members from the Office of Job Training attended a training day at Spirit Mountain in Duluth. On August 28th, students from International Falls, Cromwell and Duluth participated in many activities and listened to a presentation on Professionalism and College programs. The presentation was given by Kayti Stolp, Director of Admissions at Lake Superior College. The students were given a Keirsey Personality Assessment and the counselors interpreted the results and showed them different occupations that fit with their personality type.
During the afternoon, the students were given a 2 hour park pass to participate in activities such as miniature golf, alpine coaster, zip line and a jumping pillow. We asked the students to be accountable and responsible to each other and staff. What we noticed is camaraderie of students from different schools making new friendships with each other and staff. Everyone experienced so much fun and we found ourselves relaxing and enjoying the end of summer.
